A West Humboldt Park mother with a household of nine, Elizabeth (Beth) first came to the neighborhood as a school teacher in 2004. In 2006, she opened a small nearby computer lab which grew into a community center: the place where she became forever addicted to the tenacious, courageous, vivacious and sometimes audacious children of West Humboldt Park. After a five-year tenure on the directional team of a multi-site nonprofit, Beth came to River City in 2014. She took up directing in August 2015 in hopes of empowering the amazing, beautiful thing growing at River City between Brandon Green and the children and families of Cameron Elementary School. Beth, her husband, and her four children live a few blocks from R CITY and serve as short-term guardians through the Safe Families for Children movement.
