Donate to the Building Together campaign!
This past year, we received $200,000 in grants, gifts, and contracts toward the $225,000 renovation. Our construction happily outpaced our fundraising, meaning that the remaining need is $25,000 to fully fund the remaining projects. These projects include:
Nature play area completion - addition of climbing and imagination stations for the youngest children
Garden plantings & shade structures - brings shade and nature into the space
Signage - identify space to passersby, welcoming new families
Painting - provides backdrop for community events’ stage, lines for games, and artwork
Materials for these projects are compiled in our Amazon wish list. Items to donate are available at all monetary levels!
2023-24 campaign for community space
In collaboration with River City Community Church and neighborhood stakeholders, we launched the BUILDING TOGETHER campaign in the fall of 2023. Relationships at R CITY are growing, and youth are being transformed. But, we are outgrowing our space. In order to expand our programming, we are investing $750,000 in a NEW project, and we need your help!
For years we have been working together to serve children and youth in the west Humboldt Park neighborhood, building trusted relationships to link neighborhood youth to a broader network of support. We are grateful to work alongside River City Community Church, as we provide educational and apprenticeship programming to bring local youth successfully into their calling, and away from violence.
River City has purchased a lot next to the current facilities. Our dream is this lot will be used for the good of our community, through expanded youth programming, and creating a safe space for the community to gather and foster relationships. Together we are transforming a 3-city-lot space into an incredible neighborhood hub that will include: a recreation area (basketball court and soccer field), a performing arts area (outdoor stage) a job creation center (tuckpointing, HVAC, screen printing), and a community nature area (community gardens, communal gathering spaces). Renovation and construction are slated to take place in the spring of 2024.
