A West Humboldt Park mother with a household of ten, Elizabeth (Beth) first came to the neighborhood as a school teacher in 2004. In 2006, after the school's closure, she opened its small computer lab to the community. This soon grew into the Humboldt Park site of New Life Centers of Chicagoland: the place where she became forever connected to the magnificent children of West Humboldt Park.  After serving as Site and Executive Director with New Life, Beth came to River City in 2014. Alongside Rev. Brandon Green, she launched R CITY in August 2015 in hopes of empowering the beautiful community growing between River City and the children and families of Cameron Elementary School.

Beth and her husband lead Grand Manor, the young adult house adjacent to the R CITY space. They and their family of eight children live a few blocks from R CITY. The Galik "extended family" also includes many more beloved young people who lived with the family, often through the Safe Families for Children movement.
