Victims Services

In our community it can feel as if every life has been impacted by the violence that is all too common in our neighborhood. Yet just as the whole community is impacted, the whole community can create healing. Deep collaborative support following a crime can help offset the deep pain and practical crises that it causes. Through a generous 2023-24 grant by Cook County's Justice Advisory Council, R CITY has been granted funds specifically directed to care for those most deeply impacted by violence. Services available are listed below.

  • Supporting families laying their loved ones to rest, R CITY can provide a limited amount of financial support toward funeral expenses, including services, burial or cremation, or family-related costs like clothing.

  • Supporting students who have experienced violence, R CITY can provide a limited amount of financial support to reduce barriers to education, moving students closer to the future they seek. Such support may include tuition, room and board, uniforms, school fees, books and materials, or other specific needs.

  • Supporting teens and young adults impacted by violence with mentoring activities, life skills classes, social emotional coaching and restorative justice practices.

  • Creating a web of support for teens and young adults through referrals for career support, job training, and counseling services.
